I’m an outsider too. I’ve never flown a plane or banged a flight-attendant or sent a picture like that. But your scenario sounds like how 80% of the market actually “works.” Or doesn’t work, depending on outcome perspective. Offering drinks and dinner is “desperate”. Not so surprising “dating” is on its death bed.
I’ve been asked to pose in pictures but I’d rather be offered “all the drinks I want”. Objectification without compensation is the worst.
I hear ya though. It would never occur to me to send anything like that. But the more I pay attention to female behavior as it relates to mating, the more things like preselection stand out and thus can be ‘managed’, or employed purposefully, since the last thing I want to do is be unattractive or desperate. While I’m not stupid enough to offer drinks and dinner, I am stupid enough to politely converse with the heavy woman at the bar next to me even though I know it makes me look less attractive to the brunette down the way. Its hard not to get cynical.
